MethaneSAT

World Gas Conference

Challenge

With global attendees focused on "Energizing a Sustainable Future" at World Gas Conference 2025 in Beijing, MethaneSAT wanted to engage and educate the audience of oil and gas buyers, sellers, and producers on the purpose of their methane-monitoring satellite—and its impact on this audience—all in multiple languages.

Solution

Our approach centered on making space-based methane detection both understandable and actionable through multiple layers of engagement—from educational content about clean fuel production to hands-on experiences that revealed how MethaneSAT views emissions from orbit and what that means for each audience type.

The Legend of Cybertopia

From Rocket Science
to Real World Impact

The World Gas Conference in Beijing represented a pivotal opportunity for MethaneSAT to showcase their game-changing methane monitoring capabilities to a global audience of energy sector decision-makers and government emissaries. In a conference environment focused on sustainable energy solutions, they needed to demonstrate how their satellite technology could serve as an essential tool for industry-wide methane reduction efforts and operational excellence.

Our approach transformed MethaneSAT's booth into an immersive experience that made complex satellite data both accessible and actionable. The centerpiece—a projection-mapped oil basin constructed from Legos—allowed visitors to visualize exactly how MethaneSAT detects methane emissions from space, controlled through an intuitive, multi-lingual iPad interface that revealed different emission types from area-wide patterns to specific point sources.

The Legend of Cybertopia

Working closely with MethaneSAT's technical team, we developed complementary experiences including long-form video content that contextualized the satellite’s capabilities and LED touch-screen panels providing detailed information on ensuring clean production of hydrogen and other fuels. This multi-layered approach allowed visitors to engage at their preferred depth, from high-level understanding to technical implementation details, and in their preferred language.

The interactive projection table became a powerful conversation starter, demonstrating the satellite's ability to monitor basin-level emissions, area emissions, and point-source emissions in real-time. Visitors could manipulate the display to understand how MethaneSAT's perspective from space translates into actionable intelligence for ground-based mitigation efforts.

Throughout the conference, our booth design facilitated meaningful conversations between MethaneSAT and international energy leaders, positioning the satellite not just as innovative technology, but as an essential tool for achieving global methane reduction goals across diverse energy markets and regulatory environments.

"The interactive elements helped international visitors immediately grasp how satellite monitoring can support their regional emission reduction efforts, generating exactly the kind of cross-border collaboration we hoped to achieve."
